DAY 1 26/12/2017 Tokyo - Meiji Shrine, Afuri Ramen, Reissue 3D Art, Harry Hedgehog Cafe, Kiraku Ramen and Shibuya Ao No Dokutsu

Here goes my annual japan trip itinerary. I stayed there for 7 days 6 nights! Brought my mother along to Tokyo. It was her first time there but she wasn't as enthusiastic as me. I definitely tried a lot of things i have not tried before during my past 2 trips to Tokyo. We flew by All Nippon Airways(ANA) and their service is so good as always. :) Not sure if the Changi Recommends router has problems or is it coz 2 person connecting to one router... the router is damn slow. -_-

As we did not anticipate that there would be a long queue to exchange for the JR Pass, there was a long delay before we could get to the hotel. It was already late morning when we reached the hotel. The hotel that we are staying at is Hundred Stays Hotel. Super spacious rooms and have friendly staffs that could understand english.

No time to go grab coffee so we were off to Afuri Ramen for lunch at Harajuku. This was something new. The broth is kind of weird? We chose the shoyu broth but there's a subtle yuzu taste. I am not sure if i like it or not. Definitely refreshing if you eat this in the summer or something but it's freezing cold outside. This store is also quite famous as there's a long queue for this.

I always made it a point to go to Meiji Shrine during my first day to pray for a safe trip ahead and also for my studies. We also went to Takeshita Street where we walked into Daiso and also other shops. It was super crowded. The sky gotten dark pretty quickly.

We went to Reissue 3D Art. It is a cafe that specializes in 3D Latte Art. They were closing in about an hours time when we were there and the waiter there warned us about that. Not sure if they're eager to go back or what coz the 3D Pikachu latte art was effing ugly. -_- Was expecting something cuter as i have seen many cute latte arts on instagram. You can check out instagram and do a comparison with mine.

Moving on from our failed experience at the cafe, we went to Harry Hedgehog cafe. The cafe is abit hard to spot as we went past the cafe twice before we noticed it. LOL You have to purchase your ticket at the vending machine. I think it cost 2000 yen for half an hour with unlimited drink? You need to sanitize your hand first before you can go into the area. You were then led to a glass tank where there are a few hedgehogs in it. Ours are albino. -.- Their sense of sight is bad so they rely on the sense smell more. You need to hold the dried mealworm in front of them to feed them. They were so cute!!!! I would consider returning!

We went to kiraku(喜楽) ramen for dinner at Shibuya. I liked this better than Afuri. I ordered the Wontonmen. The shoyu broth is flavorful but kinda oily. Kiraku's noodle is a flat egg noodle and is served al dente. My mother ordered the Moyashimen (Stir Fried Been Sprout Ramen) and gyoza. Kiraku has a history of more than 50 years and they're still around means something.

We went to the Shibuya Ao No Dokutsu christmas illuminations. It is so stunning. Everywhere is lit up in blue. It's like a sea of blue!!! It was so crowded though!! It was also one of my goals to see the different christmas illuminations for this trip. <3 Everyone should go see this during the christmas season. :) That concludes my first day!
