Homemade Heinz Beanz BBQ Burgers Recipe

Back with another #myeverydaymeal post. Hmm.. i posted this on my instagram sometime back, but i was too busy to update the blog due to exams. I am finally done with exams for this year! Also am really excited for my year end trip to japan and also new job next year! I was approached by the very kind people from wunderfauks who sent me so many Heinz products to try out and also to introduce the Kraft Heinz Rewards Programme. Made some homemade burger with Heinz Beanz BBQ sauce. This is actually quite easy to make.

You only need to mix:
  • 1 diced small onion
  • 3 cups of breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup parsley
  • Beanz BBQ sauce.

You can make 4 patties with this. You only need to fry for 4 minutes on each sides. For me, I added all my favs which is cheese, ham, tomatoes, Heinz Hamburger Dill Chips and Portobello mushrooms. Also added Heinz yellow mustard and ketchup for that extra flavor.

You can head to Mustafa, Cold Storage, FairPrice, Giant or Sheng Shiong. These are just some of the major retailers that you can buy from.

Take a photo of the receipt and upload on the website to earn points.

Every $1 spent is 10 points!! You can use that to redeem more NTUC vouchers so you can shop more Heinz products!

WHAT I EAT IN A DAY

Hello! it's been awhile since i posted a 'what i eat in a day' food post. just sharing some ideas on what everyone can make for your everyday meal. enjoy~

1) Eggs benedict. The poached eggs are nestled nicely on a bed of portobello mushrooms, smoked salmon and butter toast with 3 cherry tomatoes as sides. I garnished the eggs with a generous serving of Hollandaise sauce and also mentaiko furikake. Link to how to make the poached eggs here.

2) I recently re-posted one of my most fav risotto recipes~ Balsamic risotto. I made it again and it was so yummy. Get the recipe here.

3) Made some red pesto pasta with mushrooms and ikea meatballs!

Making Egg Benedicts at Home

Hihi, i am back with another #myeverydaybreakfast post~ Here i am making poached eggs according to Jamie Oliver's video. I bought the hollandaise sauce from fairprice finest at the outlet at Katong. I used white bread instead of burgers. I also put ham and portobello mushrooms on top. According the video, you're supposed to cling wrap the eggs and cooked in boiling water for 8.5 minutes. The thing is it is difficult to tie the cling wrap together. I managed to get some nice eggs after trying 2 times. XD I sprinkled some red pepper powder on top coz it looks too plain.

Tai Cheong Bakery - Egg Tarts from Hong Kong

These egg tarts has been on my wish list for quite sometime now. So i have already tried the BAKE cheese tarts at Ion, it's time to try out the famous egg tarts from Tai Cheong Bakery. I have not personally tried the ones in Hong Kong so its not fair to do a comparison. There was also no queue when i was there in the morning. The custard center leans to the sweet side, while the crust is full of buttery goodness. $7.60 for 4 pieces. It comes with a gorgeous emerald box.

Bake Cheese Tart at ION Orchard

Hmmm.. i wonder why i did not try this in japan? dk the difference between the jap ones and sg ones so my review is solely based on this local version. I only ate 2 tarts without refrigerating, the rest are shared or eaten the next day. It has a soft cottony cheese center with a crispy outer pastry. Best to eat it when it's hot!

Dinner at Foxhole Cafe at Hougang

I went to foxhole cafe at Hougang for awhile before meeting up with a friend to attend some Buddha teachings class. It was enriching. haha. I didn't i will like it but it is not so bad as compared to the scripture reading where they made us stand up and bow many times. Anyways this cafe has a very beautiful unicorn mural on the second floor. You make your order on the first floor and make your way up to the second floor for your meal . I wonder why its unicorn instead of a fox?

I ordered the Carbonara. My first reaction to that was how come portion so small? :( The presentation looks good with the poached egg in the middle. The sauce could have been more creamy and be more generous in their portion size. You can sit by the window and admire the view outside. It overlooks a huge field.

Waffles at Baby Moo Creamery

412y Moo Creamery is a relatively new gelato cafe at Toa Payoh. They took over from The little prince creamery. I don't remember which flavour of gelato i ordered but the waffle was surprisingly okay. The exterior maybe crispy and seemed hard but the interior is quite soft but needs a stronger buttermilk flavor. Overall i think it is not bad but it is quite hard to stand out these days with so many well established cafes around like creamier in Toa payoh which draws a lot of crowd daily.

Pancetta Fungi Pasta at EagleWings Loft

As you all know, i am a huge fan of pasta and i saw this review on this Pancetta Fungi Pasta at EagleWings Loft. I knew i had to try this! I went to school one day to work on assignments and this cafe was along the way wor, why not right? The cafe layout was rather narrow. haha. The al dente pasta was arrived in a waft of hot tantalizing smoke. The food may look very good but the taste isn't. It is salty AF.

Lunch at the Masses~

I came for the C&C pasta~ I ordered the FANCY 忧 lunch set and it allows me to choose between 3 starters, choice of egg, C&C pasta and Chargrilled Pumpkin. The C&C pasta is served cold and it features al dente angel hair pasta noodles drizzled in luscious lobster bisque with crab meat and topped with caviar.
I also have a choice of 3 main dishes. Duroc Pork Belly or Pan-Seared Barramundi or Angus 200-Days Grain Fed Striploin (180g), I chose the Barramundi but it seems like i made the wrong choice. haha. It comes with Vegetable Bohémienne, Clams, Fig-Infused Clams Jus. The fish was oddly chewy and difficult to break apart. Not nice!
You can view more of what they offer here.

Breakfast at Botanist Singapore!

I think i actually had this before Antoinette. haha. I ordered the highly recommended Breakfast Platter and got them to change the corn to salad coz hard to eat corn with braces. I have nothing to complain about this well executed platter. The platter consists of bratwurst sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, hashbrown, salad, avocado, bread and framboise macker raspberry jam. Everything on it was good but i didn't eat the avocado. lol :x This cost $23 which i find slightly on the pricier side? But maybe it will make you feel better if you share it?

Breakfast at ANTOINETTE AT MANDARIN GALLERY

A good breakfast sets the mood for the day and here i am at Antoinette for breakfast~ I ordered the Antoinette's Breakfast. Choice of egg is sunny side up, any other option need to top up $. There's bacon and sausage, salad, toast, viennoiseries and coffee. Viennoiseries means baked goods fyi. No complains about this one. everything is good. :)

I also ordered the La Rose~ The desert is presented as a rose. It literally looks like the real thing. Ok, let me break it down for you.  La Rose - grand cru chocolate mousse, exotic caramel, almond nougatine, cocoa sponge, grand marnier, dark chocolate Chantilly. It basically taste like milo coz of the cocoa sponge. Looks beautiful but i wouldn't order this again. lol

Cat and the fiddle cake mooncake taste test~ Did the cow jumped over the moon?

I have always been seeing people posting about cat and the fiddle cakes cheesecake. Well mooncake festival is nearing, and everyone is posting about mooncakes now. So out of all the posts on mooncakes, this stood out to me with its packaging and cute mooncakes. There's a very cute cat on the mooncake. I guess it is because of the brand. The packaging is about a cow jumping over the moon and the cats are looking at it. I was inspired to change the background into a gorgeous blue galaxy to match the packaging. Um.... coz i not famous so i bought this myself. >.> you can order it here

The moon cake does break apart easily. I tried cutting it into quarters for easy sharing. This is unlike normal mooncake coz of the savoury taste. Although the strawberry and chocolate flavor contains alcohol, i couldn't taste it in the mooncake. The taste of the truffle also not very strong too. The chocolate and cookies & cream stood out to me because of the strong individual taste. The chocolate core does provide a different kind of texture to your tastebuds.
  1. Blueberry: Blueberry Cream Cheese and Lotus Paste with White Chocolate and Dried Cranberry Truffle (2 pieces)
  2. Cookies & Cream: Oreo Cream Cheese and Lotus Paste with Dark Chocolate Truffle (2 pieces)
  3. Strawberry: Strawberry Cream Cheese and Lotus Paste with Mint and White Chocolate Martini Truffle (2 pieces)
  4. Chocolate: Chocolate Cream Cheese and Lotus Paste with Orange Vodka and Dark Chocolate Truffle (2 pieces)

Meals inspired by Jamie Oliver Videos

1) Was inspired by Jamie Oliver's video on how to make the perfect scrambled egg to make this breakfast. You can watch the video Here. What's in this Muji bowl is 2 pieces of ham, baby portobello mushrooms, cheese sausages, heinz baked beans and english style scrambled eggs.

2) Sorry, i've been watching too many videos by Jamie Oliver. hahaha. Here's my take on his classic carbonara. It is really easy to make~ You can follow his recipe here here. The recipe is so simple as well. :)

3) Here's another carbonara from Jamie Oliver. This one is unlike the previous one with the use of butter. You can follow his recipe here.

What I eat in a day! Big Breakfast, Kimchi Fried Rice and Curry Udon~

1) I was inspired by some instagrammers to create a breakfast like this. There's corn, baby portobello mushroom, cherry tomatoes, baked beans, bratwurst sausage and a fried egg in the middle. I cooked the corn, mushrooms and tomatoes with balsamic sauce coz anything with that is yummmyyyyy.

2) Korean Kimchi Fried Rice. I had left over kimchi so i decided to make fried rice. This is something i have never tried before. You can add in more ingredients such as corn and mushrooms if you want and cook it with the luncheon meat. This was inspired by Kimchi and Spam Fried Rice Recipe

print recipe

Korean Kimchi Fried Rice

  • 1/4 packet Kimchi

Sin Kee Seafood Soup 鲜记海鲜汤

It was a school holiday yesterday coz its teacher's day. I went to Sin Kee Seafood Soup (鲜记海鲜汤) for lunch. I had to walk to the woodlands temporary interchange to take a bus to this place. It was a long walk from my workplace to the interchange and the weather is scorching hot.

I ordered the set that comes with crayfish and dory fish. $10.50 for one extra half of a crayfish and more dory fish as compared to the Khatib one. The soup taste normal leh and was not as rich. The soup i have tasted so far had a red hue to the soup but this one doesn't have that.  The crayfish and dory fish was really fresh though. Was seriously a bit disappointed coz all good reviews on Burpple. In fact, i find that the one at Shun Feng Crayfish Delight is so so much better but than this one got extra crayfish. T_T Anyways, it is worth a try but then would eat Hong Ji Claypot Bak Kut Teh (宏记砂锅肉骨茶) next time coz located in same coffee shop.

Pablo Original Cheese Tarts Taste test!

We celebrated Teacher's Day yesterday! Happy Teacher's Day to everyone~ As it is teacher's day, we always have a celebratory lunch for everyone outside and we all get to go back earlier. I took this chance to go to Wisma Atria to get the super hyped cheese tarts in Singapore which originated from Osaka. I wonder why i did not eat this while i was in Osaka. >.> Anyways, we can enjoy only the "medium" version of the cheese tart here, like in other overseas outlets of Pablo. I ordered the The original cheese tart which costs $15. Two other flavors, the matcha cheese tart with shiratama mochi and azuki or red beans; and the chocolate cheese tart, cost $18 each.

As stated above, i have not tried the original one in Japan. However, the ones sold in Singapore boasts crispy crusts and a very soft cheesy fillings. The top is glazed with apricot jam. The queue was surprisingly short when i was there. Probably less than 10 people? It is worth a try for people who have not tried the ones sold in Japan.

Jia Xiang Nasi Lemak 家香椰浆饭 - Blue Nasi Lemak Rice?

So we had one week of #feedthethem where we post about Nasi Lemak so i googled what are the best ones out there, but of cos i post about the one i had at Toa Payoh Food Centre (Blk 75) . I had the chance again to visit this on my off day but then i couldn't find it. LOL. Nevermind. I went home and ordered through uberEATS. As you can see most of the rice is blue because of butterfly pea flower and it is all natural. There is a strong pandan flavor in the rice though. It comes with a fried chicken drumstick, peanuts and ikan bilis, fried egg and vegetables. The chicken was obviously over fried cos the fried chicken skin is dark in color. Um.. other than that there is nothing special...other than the instagram worthy rice. Is it Worth the shot?

Shun Feng Crayfish Delight - Not another seafood soup store?

Is this a trend? Lots of similar stores selling seafood soup are popping out everywhere!! This one is at Khatib and is near to the MRT Station so i decided to pop by and give it a shot. There is a short queue of not more than 10 people but there is a long wait. I guess it is not easy to make it bowl by bowl and also this helps to maintain the standard of the soup.

I ordered the Crystal Crayfish Delight which cost $6. You can order the $10 if you have more than 1 people sharing. Queued for so long for this and it is so worth it~ the soup is however not as rich as the sumo big prawn. They sliced the crayfish into halves for you and it can be easily removed from the shells. There are also marinated handmade meatballs inside, tomatoes, fish slices and tofu. You have a choice to add either rice or crystal Hor fun. I suggest you choose the latter coz it is so yummy. I also read that the Mackerel Slices Delight ($7) had a much sweeter taste. Maybe that is what i will try next.

#DINNERGOALS Korean Chili Powder Recipes

1) I have been struggling to finish up the big pack of Korean Chili powder i gotten to make army stew. Been googling on any possible good recipes that i can make to utilise them, and i stumble upon this. I have no scallions and i do not know how to make that perfect googly yolk at the center but i can make do without those! ^^ I love that the sauce became this thick red mixture and is not spicy. It compliments the udon very well.

print recipe

Kimchi Udon
Ingredients
  • 5 tablespoons Unsalted butter, divided
  • 1/2 cup Chopped kimchi, plus ⅓ cup kimchi juice
  • 2 tablespoons Gochujang (Korean hot pepper paste)
  • 1/2 cup Low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 pack Udon Noodles
  • 1/4 cup Luncheon Meat and Enoki Mushrooms
Instructions
Heat 2 Tbsp. butter in a large skillet over medium-high. Add chopped kimchi and gochujang and cook, stirring occasionally, until kimchi is softened and lightly caramelized, about 4 minutes. Add broth and kimchi juice and bring to a simmer. Cook until liquid is slightly reduced, about 3 minutes.
Meanwhile, boil noodles according to package directions.
Using tongs, transfer noodles to skillet and add remaining 3 Tbsp. butter; cook, tossing often, until sauce coats noodles, about 2 minutes.

2) I came across this recipe for Spicy Korean Soft Tofu Stew (Soondubuchigae) next! Quite easy to make and i tweaked it abit to include gochujang as i have left over from the Kimchi Udon. For the soup base, i added lobster broth instead so the soup has a sweet taste at first and spicy aftertaste. I also made udon to go with the soup. I should probably eat that with rice, but oh well. XD

print recipe

Spicy Korean Tofu Stew (Soondubuchigae)
Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp Red Pepper Powder
  • 2 cups Lobster broth
  • 1 packet Silken tofu
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 Potato
  • 1/4 cup Enoki Mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup Kimchi
  • 1 tbsp Gochujang
Instructions
Mix the soy sauce, Red Pepper Powder and gochujang together. Add the lobster broth to the pot with around 2 cups of water. Bring to a simmer.Add the potato, enoki mushrooms, kimchi and the sauce mixture and simmer for around 10 minutes. Add soft tofu and return to simmer.

#DINNERGOALS

1) I went to Daiso recently and got this Nabe soup pack. Decided to make some soup to go with rice. 1 pack can serve 2-3 people depends on how much ingredients you put in it? Mine's just enough for 2! I have broccoli, chicken, baby corn, baby carrots, white and brown enoki mushroom, and shiitake mushrooms. It is also quite easy to make this soup. You basically out the ingredients into a pot and pour the soup in until all ingredients are cooked. I also added tamago furikake on my rice.

2) I still have a lot of Gochugaru left so i decided to make korean Budae Jjigae (Army Stew) with rice! Use a small bowl for the sauce and mix everything together.
For the sauce, you need :
  • 1 tablespoon hot pepper paste
  • 2 tablespoons hot pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
You then add your ingredients into around 2.5 cups of chicken stock. You can gauge how much you need from how many people you are serving. Put the sauce in and cover with lid until everything is cooked. I think this is the last of my japanese rice. Not sure what i would make next though.
