RECIPE: How to make Aglio Olio at home?

Aglio e olio is a basic pasta dish from Naples that is possibly the simplest Italian pasta to make. Olive oil, garlic, chili flakes, parsley, and some pasta water are the main ingredients in an Aglio e olio sauce.

A simple dish like this with just garlic and oil could be yummy too. You can make this simple, tasty dinner any night of the week if you have bacon in the fridge, prawns in the freezer, and pasta in the pantry.
Fast and easy meal. This would probably take around 15 minutes.
With Phase 2 heightened alert kicking off starting from today to June 13, everyone can only do takeaways or cook at home. How about making this at home?

Pasta with garlic and oil (Aglio Et Olio)

Ingredients:
  • Pasta
  • 8 tablespoon of Olive Oil
  • 2 cloves garlic sliced
  • 3 streaky bacon rashers diced
  • Prawns, deveined
Directions:

  1. Cooking pasta in salted water for about 10 minutes to achieve al-dente texture.
  2. While pasta cooks, heat oil in a large frypan and cook bacon until it starts to turn golden. Add garlic and sizzle for another 30 seconds. Add prawns and stir-fry over medium heat until they change color (2-3 minutes).
  3. Drain the pasta and add pasta, and reserved cooking liquid to the pan with the prawns. Toss over heat for a minute or two so the pasta can absorb the flavors.
  4. Ready to serve~
