Osaka June 2016 5 days 4 nights Itinerary - Day 2 (Orange Street, Dotonbori, Shinsaibashi, Kinryu Ramen, Hozenji Temple & Gudetama Cafe)

You can check out Day 1 here!  Click this link!

Day 2 of 5D4N in Osaka was bad as well!!! Rained non-stop! I was in Tokyo last year June and it wasn't this bad. :( Guess the weather is really unpredictable? Really kind of dampened the whole holiday mood ya!

I am not really sure if i would ever return during the summer already. Probably winter next time? If i take extra precaution, it wouldn't be as cold right? :S

I bought one of this juices every morning. Love drinking these vegetable juices. You can find these in any of the convenience stores in Japan! I also drink vegetables juices in Singapore as it is equivalent to 1 serving of vegetables. XD

Super gloomy. :( It's drizzling slightly too.

Mondial Kaffee 328
I had breakfast at Mondial Kaffee 328.

Address: 西区北堀江1-6-16, フォレステージュ1F, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture 550-0014, Japan
Opening Hours: 8:30am - 9pm everyday

It is a mixture of English and metallic elements in their store interior, right? I just had a simple breakfast set (Toasts, salad, coffee and hard boiled egg. You have to peel the shell yourself, more hygienic ya? Simple breakfast like this can be yummy too. :)

Orange Street

Orange street imo is like Shimokitazawa in Tokyo. It's the places that draws the most young crowd and there's are quite a few cafes here, boutiques catered to younger people, general merchandise stores and interior goods shops. Umm.. It's still drizzling when i got here so.. pardon the gloomy photos.

I did spend quite a bit of time in ASOKO which i took a mirror selfie in. I will list the address and opening hours before the picture. It is an awesome general good store which has everything from kitchen stuffs to stationery and the design is quite unique and colorful.

I also spend some time in the head porter shop and i purchased a fairly expensive black wallet from there too. Have been planning to discard my blue taobao wallet as it has started to wear and tear.

ASOKO
Adress: 大阪府大阪市西区南堀江1-19-23 前衛的ビルヂング1F
Opening Hours: 11am - 8pm

I also had some juice at CAFE CONTEMPO as it started to rain quite heavily. I eventually spilled below juice all over the table so I had to leave out of embarrassment. LOL :x This cafe is quite awesome as they had power points for people to charge their electronic devices.

Granknot Coffee

Address: 西区北堀江1-23-4, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture 550-0014, Japan
Opening Hours: 8am - 6am

Moving on from the previous cafe, I moved on to Granknot Coffee where I have some coffee and something to snack on while waiting for this god damn rain to STOP. -.-

Dotonbori & Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade

One of Osaka's most popular tourist destinations, this street runs parallel to the Dotonbori canal. It is a popular shopping and entertainment district and is also known as a food destination. At night it is lit by hundreds of neon lights and mechanized signs, including the famous Glico Running Man sign and Kani Doraku crab sign.

Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade and the surrounding Shinsaibashi area is Osaka's premiere shopping center. Approximately 600 m long, this area is unique as it combines chain retail stores and trendy boutiques with expensive department stores and top designer fashion labels. This is where you may want to visit the pharmacies so that you can stock up on the many amazing Japanese medicines and beauty products.

The rain finally subsided for awhile so I made my way to dotonbori for lunch! Many people taking selfies, wefies or videos of the Glico Running man sign. Lots of china tourists here as well. -_- I also had to take shelter under one of the bridge for awhile because it is started raining again.

This is the place you will want to come for FOOD.

 KINRYU RAMEN

Address: Japan, 〒542-0071 Osaka Prefecture, Osaka, Chuo Ward, Dotonbori, 1 Chome−7−26
Opening Hours: 24/7

This bowl of tonkotsu broth ramen from Kinryu ramen promised rich flavor. Must try when you're in dotonbori. You won't missed it, it's the shop with a giant dragon signage.

Hozenji Temple

Address: 1-2-16 Nanba, Chuo Ward, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture 542-0076, Japan

This temple is not far from Dotonbori bridge so if you're nearby for a meal, why not come here and take a look?

法善寺 (Hozenji), a small temple built in 1637, pays homage to Fudo Myoo, one of the five Myoo, or Wisdom Kings. The fierce kings are the guardians of Buddhism and, more specifically, the Five Wisdom Buddhas.

No coins are tossed in offering at Hozenji as they are at other Japanese temples. Instead, worshippers make their supplications and then splash some water on the statue of the deity (often called Mizukakefudo) that is the heart of this temple. Due to the frequent dousings, the statue is now blanketed by a soft, green carpet of moss. It is said that originally only visitors who had not brought an offering would splash the statue with water, but this eventually became the common practice.

The paper lanterns when lit at night illuminates the temple grounds, making it especially lovely.

GUDETAMA CAFE AT HEP FIVE

Address: Osaka-fu, Osaka-shi, Kita-ku, Kakuta-chou, HEP FIVE Shopping Center 7th floor
大阪府大阪市北区角田町5-15 HEP FIVE 7F
Opening Hours: 11am - 10.30pm

After Dotonbori, I headed to Umeda again. I went to HEP five again. You know that this is the right mall if you've seen this 2 whales hanging at the center of the mall.  The big red whales are actually painted by famous musician Tstsuya Ishi.

This facility boasts a huge red ferris wheel that's become the symbol of this commercial complex. "HEP" stands for Hankyu Entertainment Park. B1 to 6F includes fashion floors and shops for sundries; 7F and part of 5F and 6F are restaurants; B2 and 8F and 9F are amusement facilities. At the top of this building sits a huge 75-meter-wide red ferris wheel that is lit up by computerized controller day and night. The ferris wheel can be accessed from 7F. At the highest, gondolas reach 106m above ground to overlook the center of the city of Osaka.

Gudetama Cafe is located at the 7th floor of this mall. I was doing research on interesting cafes in Osaka and chanced upon this blogger's review on the cafe. The dishes that they have is just so adorable!!!! The cafe interior is truly gudetama themed, from the furnitures to their wall! The gudetama presence is truly felt in this cafe.

I ordered the “Gude White Curry” which cost 1000yen. It is possibly the cutest items on the menu, and caught my attention the most, thus i ordered this for dinner. As you can see, Gudetama appeared as a serving of yellow rice and looking as lazy as ever, covered in his beloved ham blanket. I gotta say the while curry is very good! :)
